Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I blogged anywhere, and my life is now worlds away from what it was back in Mississippi so I thought it would be wise to start a new blog instead of reviving my old one. If you've been around for a while, you know that I used to be an obsessed knitter and that I am oscillating between accepting that due to my shoulder injury I may never knit again and telling myself that my handwriting is getting better every day and to just work on the knitting. I don't know which way it will go. Knitting was always such a stress reliever for me and to have it be stressful and difficult is a hard thing for me to face. I have a massive yarn stash that is demanding to be used, though, and a husband with size 13 feet who is enamored with his hand knit socks, so it's approaching sink or swim time with that. We moved to Texas a little over a year ago after the situation in Mississippi because physically dangerous. In hindsight it had always been psychologically dangerous, but that's why it's called hindsight, right?

For those of you who are just now finding me, first of all welcome! Come on in and make yourself comfortable. I'm a homeschooling mom of 3 (13 and 11 year old girls and an 8 year old boy) who loves science fiction and all things related to fountain pens and journaling.  I'm also a bit obsessed with technology and read way too much, if such a thing is possible. We have 2 rescued dogs, Nidge the old German Shepherd and Jack the Lab/Boxer pup, a Catalina Macaw named River, and a one-winged cockatiel who no one agrees on the name of. My daughter claims it's Pebbles, but it also answers to Puddles, Pickles, and Stumpy. For some reason I can call her Stumpy and she takes it as a pet name and gets very cuddly. Who knows what her name actually is at this point. Oh yes, and we're fairly recent converts to Catholicism.

My life is best described as loosely ordered chaos, trying to raise and educated the kids and keep the pets alive with a husband who is not around half the time, quite literally. I have decided to go with it, though, and have accepted that there are days where teaching Latin while holding a needy macaw like a baby and refereeing a dog scuffle under the table is just the day you've been given and you can choose whether to laugh and make the best of it or let it turn you into a shrieking crazy lady. I choose laughter....most of the time.

In the coming months I hope to be sharing thoughts about homeschooling and curriculum, reviews relating to fountain pens, inks, and journaling, the absolutely unbelievable situations that make up my life but are really quite true, and I'll share the books I've been reading and how they are affecting our daily school time. I hope this teaser has intrigued you enough to come back and check out what's going to be on in the future. Have a blessed day!
